4 weeks
Week One
Introduction to water colour painting: We will learn all about watercolour papers, paints, brushes, and technique tricks. We will create six mini watercolour paintings and learn a variety of techniques: washes, gradient washes, dry brush, resists, salt technique, plastic technique, alcohol technique.
Week Two
Still life composition: We will do our first painting as a still life composition. I will take you step by step through the process: creating a composition, lighting, sketching, drawing, negative & positive space, transferring an image to watercolour, white space, resists, background wash, object painting, applying special effects, final touches.
Weeks Three & Four
Landscape Composition: In our second piece we will explore landscape painting from a photograph of Georgian Bay. I will take you step by step through the process. We will learn how to paint rocks, sky, water, trees and bush.
